Having difficulty keeping Zoom conferences engrossing? Or perhaps you’re assembling a new group and want a original way to introduce the group to each other? Either way, here’s a powerful virtual conference entertainment intro activity that takes advantage of the fact everyone is sitting at home.
As the virtual conference starts, put up directions to all members that they need to grab three objects from anywhere in their house that match three particular criteria. Here’s a list of good criteria that work well, but feel free to create your own!

…you received as a gift, and tell us about the person who gave it to you.
…sparks joy.
…has the most ridiculous story behind it.
…comes from the furthest away.
…doesn’t belong to you, and tell us why you have it.
…is the rarest.
…you’ve had for the longest.
…is the most unexpected or out of place.
…you think everyone should have, but doesn’t.”
Once all participants have arrived and had an opportunity to find the objects, begin the meeting with a round of introductions. As well as announcing their name, job title, and whatever other usual pieces of info you request, tell each participant to introduce the items they’ve found as well, and why it fulfils the condition you set out before. You’ll get to hear some wonderful tales that will give a far better understanding of each participant’s character than the standard bland virtual event entertainment options!
